After enduring yet another laborious duty roster, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos' Lower Decks eagerly anticipates a fun evening at a Zebulon Sisters concert. Tendi is particularly excited as this will be her first Chu Chu Dance. However, before they can enjoy the festivities, the crew must navigate routine training exercises in the holodeck, organized by the unlikely choice of Boimler. The prospect of Boimler in charge brings its own set of challenges.

Impatience to reach the dance leads the crew to attempt an early exit from the simulation, only to discover that a rogue AI named Badgey has taken over the Cerritos' computer. Badgey locks them in the holodeck, disables safety protocols, and presents them with Star Trek scenarios, both familiar and new. To return to reality, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford, and Mariner must survive these challenges. Failure not only means their demise but also missing out on the highly-anticipated party.
